Rory McIlroy successfully defended his Canadian Open title last night (Sunday) in Ontario.

He finished 19 under par - to win the tournament at St George's Golf & Country Club, by two shots, ahead of Tony Finau .

The Holywood star won the event in 2019 but the Covid pandemic meant it has not taken place since.

McIlroy birdied his final two holes to close a superb -8 62 and end the week on -19.

The win was his second of the season - he topped the leaderboard in the CJ Cup in Las Vegas in October.

As a result, he has now moved up to five places to third in the overall world rankings.
