Stormont is due to host a day-long cricket international later – weather permitting.

Ireland take on the famous West Indies – 13 years after their last encounter at the same venue.

Back in 2004 the locals recorded an historic six-wicket win – and since then have also beaten them in a World Up and a Twenty20 match.

While the recent record is good, you can never underestimate the cricketing giant that is the Windies.

Gary Wilson

Gary Wilson is simply hoping the weather stays kind.

He told Downtown and Cool FM : “It is not always the greatest weather here but for me especially being a Belfast boy it would be great to get out there and play in front of the home fans.”

And captain, William Porterfield, is confident they can produce another upset.

“This is a side we have beaten before. It is a side we have played a lot of good cricket against.

“It would be nice to hopefully get one over them again.”

Play will begin today at 10.15
