Team USA have regained the Ryder Cup - with a record-breaking score margin.

They wrapped up a dominant weekend at Whistling Straits last night to leave the final score 19-9 in their favour.

Rory McIlroy was just one of three Europeans to win a singles match.

And afterwards the star got emotional as he told the media he wished he could have done more and also how he was filled with pride to be part of the team.

Fighting back tears he said: "I love being a part of this team. I love my team-mates so much and I should have done more for them this week. I'm glad I put a point on the board for the team today,''

"I just can't wait to get another shot at this. It is by far the best experience in golf and I hope there are boys and girls watching this today who aspire to play in this event or the Solheim Cup.

"No matter what happens later I am proud of every single player, I'm proud of the captain and vice-captains.

"It's been a tough week.''

Meanwhile, Europe will have the chance to regain the trophy at Marco Simone Golf Club in Italy in September 2023.
