One of the UK's most iconic comedy actors Steve Coogan prepares to bring his beloved Alan Partridge character to Belfast's SSE Arena stage next month.

Steve best describes the live show, 'Stratagem with Alan Partridge' as a 'Ted-Talk', promising to inform, educate and entertain in approximately equal measure.

Steve joined Stuart Banford on Downtown Radio to chat about his upcoming tour and his experiences in showbiz.

"The idea is that he (Alan Partridge) is giving a motivational talk, kind of like a ted-lecture, where he imparts his wisdom that he's garnered through the last 50/60 years."

When asked about his next BBC project, The Reckoning, where Steve plays the controversial role of Jimmy Savile, he highlights why he felt it was important to take part.

"Lots of people were having kittens about it for various reasons, which is understandable, but I certainly wasn't. I wasn't worried about it at all because I knew that it was good people working on it, that it justified itself and there's a simplistic response to it that was ultimately not the right one.

Although I sympathise with it, I thought the people that thought we shouldn't make it, were wrong. I think the programme will vindicate itself. I've bee doing this so long, I've learned to trust my gut instinct."
