Cash for Kids want to say a huge thank you to our supporters. Because of you we've helped 2,520 local children in need and granted out £25,735.83 this quarter alone!

Angel Martin

Radio Forth Cash for Kids have been able to help Angel during this grant round. We granted Angel carpets and blinds to get her settled into her new house. This will provide basic warmth with heat retention, especially with Angel having chronic lung disease she is prone to chest infections and pneumonia. This is important for Angel’s health especially with the winter months ahead. Angel was born with trisomy 21, receiving open heart surgery at 7 weeks old. Since then Angel has had several spells in and out of hospital for various things. Angel’s family had to move house to provide the needed space for Angel and her 4 siblings. Angel is on oxygen with a tummy peg for feeding, as a result her supplies and equipment were too big and consequently occupied too much room in their small house. These items have helped Angel and her family move into the property with the basics in place.

"If it had not been for the invaluable generosity provided by Cash for Kids we would not have had the opportunity to move into a bigger house with these essentials in place. The whole family cannot thank you enough. With love from the Martin family."

Recovery Kidz

We have helped Recovery Kids with their Christmas Party by providing their Animal Man and the Disco which will help around 80 children. With our Mission Christmas appeal we are also able to provide Christmas gifts for the children. Recovery Kidz are a group based in Edinburgh that organise events for children who's parents are in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction. They take the children on outings for fun and education and provide them with life enhancing experiences. Their childhood has been deprived up until now, with little or no money being spent on them. These children have suffered in poverty and unfortunately have not been able to experience the fun and happiness that other children do, whilst there family were in active addiction. Now in recovery all these things are possible.

"Please convey our, the Trustees, thanks to the Grants Committee of Radio Forth's Cash for Kids for this most generous gesture as we would be unable to have the party without their financial assistance."

Jaden Smart

Cash for Kids were able to help Jaden by providing a summerhouse for his therapy. Jaden has cerebral palsy and required a major operation on the 25th of June to have both of his hips reshaped and placed back into joint. He then had to go into a body (spica) cast for 5 weeks which kept his legs in the correct position. Unfortunately this set Jaden back quite a bit and he lost most of his mobility, preventing him from doing the things he was previously able to do. His legs are also very tight from the type of cerebral palsy Jaden has (spastic quadraplegia). The provision of a summerhouse, containing a water therapy bath, means that Jaden will benefit from treatment every single night in his own garden. He will be able to relax his legs and entire body whilst doing his physiotherapy. This will help him build his strength and give him the best opportunity to regain some additional movement. In time he hopes to be much more independent.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to Radio Forth Cash for Kids. Together we can change the lives of many more children.
