Dougie Poynter reveals heartache over Ellie Goulding
The pair split in March
It was one of the shocks of the year when Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter split and now the McFly man has spoken about their relationship for the first time.
A heartbroken Dougie confessed he still loves Ellie and doesn’t know what went wrong in their relationship.
The guitarist recently told a newspaper "We love each other very much. We are the best of friends."
The 28-year-old also admitted the pair spent time together at American music festival, Coachella. He said "We hung out at Coachella, like all day, with her friends and my friends. It was really, really cool. Everything is totally fine."
The couple’s break-up came as a shock to fans as the pair seemed totally loved up at the time. Speaking about the reasoning behind the split, Dougie said "It's just both being all over the place, like I said we get on really well."
He went on to describe Ellie as 'One of the most amazing people I've ever met'.

After being on and off for two years, Dougie and Ellie rekindled their love at the beginning of 2016.
When Ellie posted a cryptic video posing in a stunning white wedding dress to Instagram, rumours began circulating that the pair would tie the knot.
However, the two announced their split in March 2016. Confirming the announcement and opening up about the split Ellie said "People think I'm invincible but these last few weeks have been tough. I'm not in a relationship anymore and that's been hard."
At the same time the 'On My Mind' singer also announced she would be taking a break from music at the end of the year and will not be releasing any new music for at least one year.
The announcement came a shock to fans as the pair had recently spoke about marriage and kids.
Dougie is now set to embark on a UK tour with his McFly band mates after announcing the band are reuniting for their Anthology Tour which will kick off in June.
