Singer Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly set to return to The X Factor when it returns later in the year.

The former Pussycat Doll has reportedly been approached by Simon Cowell to rejoin the panel after three years away from the show.

Nicole enjoyed a spell on the popular singing show between 2012-2013 and proved to be a big hit with viewers.

Now, Simon would like to bring the 37-year-old back to judge on his new superstar panel.

Last year's judges, Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, sensationally quit the show and according to reports Simon has already lined up former judges, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osborne as their replacements.

A source recently said "ITV bosses, Simon, Sharon and Louis all agree Nicole would be the perfect person to join the line-up.

"Nicole and Sharon are good friends, and Louis and Simon are big fans."

With no word on Rita Ora’s future, it seems Nicole could be the final appointment on the panel.

This will see a major change up from last year's show which failed to attract viewers.

Show bosses are trying to change the format of the show and have already rehired popular host Dermot O'Leary for the new series. This comes after Olly Murs and Caroline Flack failed to impress during their first year presenting the show.

The show is set to hit our TV screens later in the year.
