Even if you aren't a Pokemon fan, you HAVE to watch this new trailer with actor Ryan Reynolds voicing the cute, furry, yellow Pokemon favourite, Pikachu! That's right, Ryan has swapped his infamous Deadpool role for something VERY different, but we like it!

In the two-minute trailer, we get to see the adventures of Detective Pikachu. Actor Justice Smith plays Tim Goodman, a failed Pokemon Trainer, who meets Pikachu, who is super happy to finally meet someone who can understand him.

However, Tim isn't so sure about the encounter, confused by the small furry animal talking to him, in a language which only he can understand. As Tim threatens Pikachu with a stapler - Pikachu responds, "I know you can't understand me, but put down the stapler, or I will electrocute YOU!"

Always the joker, Ryan also took to Twitter to share the trailer and say, 'I think we all knew I'd wind up as a miniature detective repeatedly saying the same two words. Just didn't think it'd be this soon. #PikaPika #DetectivePikachu'.

Just hours after its release the trailer has had thousands of comments on social media, with one person saying, 'Okay but this looks amazing & I can't get over how cute Pikachu looks!! I'M EXCITED.', another commented, 'This is about to be the best movie of 2019'.

Pokemon Detective Pikachu is the first-ever live action film to be based on the popular computer game characters and is expected to be released in the summer of 2019.

Now take a look at the best films of 2017:

20. The Lost City Of Z

2013's The Immigrant is sadly still waiting for a UK release, so praise be to the cinematic gods that James Gray's The Lost City Of Z arrived without delay. Based on the true-life tale of British explorer Percy Fawcett (Charlie Hunnam), this dense but always gripping biopic is part political drama, part family drama and part adventure.
On discovering the remnants of an indigenous society, Fawcett spent his life trying to prove his Amazonian finds until his unexplained disappearance in 1925. Containing one of the most beautiful scenes of the year, this undseen gem deserves, nay, demands your attention.
