Neighbours cast get very excited as Adele takes time out to visit the set

Everybody needs good neighbours...

Adele

Adele is currently on tour in Australia and what trip to Melbourne would be complete without a visit to Ramsey Street, home of the popular Aussie soap Neighbours.

The 'Hello' singer took time out of her busy schedule to visit the iconic street, posting a photo of herself outside the Kennedys' house captioned with the words from the infamous theme tune, 'Neighhhhbours, should be there for one anotherrrr. That's when good neighhhbours become goood friennnds'.

And it seems that Adele wasn't the only person thrilled at being there. Many of the cast tweeted their excitement at the superstar chasing the pavements of Ramsey Street.

Neighbour's stalwart Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy) couldn't contain his excitement either, having seen the singer perform just a couple of days earlier for his wedding anniversary, tweeting,

'So @Adele visited #RamsayStreet today. Seems everyone ❤️ good @neighbours especially when it's in #london tonight.'

While it looks like Adele was just on a casual visit to Ramsey Street some fans have asked the question we all want to know, does this mean Adele could guest star in Neighbours? After all, it wouldn't be unheard of.

Neighbours has seen a number of celebrity guest appearances including Lily Allen in 2009 and Paula Abdul in 2014.

Tonight's episode of the soap is in London and there is very much excitement about it, however could we be about to say 'goodbye' to Neighbours for the final time?

The show has been on UK television for 31 years, originally starting on the BBC before moving to Channel 5 in 2008, but talks between Channel 5 and the production company Fremantle Media, have reportedly hit a wall.

The Sunday People report a source saying,

"The renegotiation of the Neighbours Channel 5 deal has become very fraught and is in jeopardy.

"The failure to reach a deal is being blamed on Channel 5’s new American owners Viacom for refusing to sign off on the figures and not understanding the cultural importance of the show in the UK. Neighbours has become a British TV favourite and it would be a sad day if it were to go."

In response to this many unhappy fans have started a petition which at the time of writing has nearly 1000 names.

Neighbours is currently shown on Channel 5 every weekday.
