17-year old dies in crash with parked van in Edinburgh city centre

A teenager has died after the car he was driving crashed into a parked van on Regent Road in central Edinburgh on Sunday night.

The 17-year old was behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta when the accident happened at around 9.25pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident also left a 21-year-old man seriously hurt while a boy, aged 15, escaped with minor injuries.

There was no-one in the Citreon Relay van at the time.

The road was closed for around six hours while investigations took place.
