Bansky, the world-famous graffiti artist, has chosen Glasgow to host an exhibition where he'll reveal some of the secrets of his iconic and polemical artworks.

The show called CUT & RUN is being hosted at the Gallery of Modern Art on Queen Street and will include some of the stencils used to create his most famous pictures.

Spanning from 1998 to the present day, the artist calls it ‘25 years card labour.’

“I’ve kept these stencils hidden away for years, mindful they could be used as evidence in a charge of criminal damage," says Banksy.

"But that moment seems to have passed, so now I’m exhibiting them in a gallery as works of art.

"I’m not sure which is the greater crime.”

Cone fan

In a welcome message Banksy reveals his reason for choosing Glasgow, saying he was inspired by the traffic cone often seen on the head of the statue of the Duke of Wellington outside the gallery.

He says it's his favourite work of art in the UK.

The show includes authentic artefacts, ephemera and the artist’s actual toilet.
