Edinburgh Trams increasing service frequency during peak times

It's to help cater for higher demand.

The frequency of Edinburgh's Trams is increasing during the morning and evening rush hours.

From today, they're running every five minutes - meaning three extra return services.

The move follows a successful trial earlier this month, to make sure the increased frequency didn't affect traffic flow.

The changes will take effect between 7.30am and 9.30am, and between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

Lea Harrison, General Manager of Edinburgh Trams, said: "The trams have proved very popular since they were introduced, with passenger numbers increaing all the time.

"Although this is a modest increase in our capacity on the line, it is still an important step in increasing the frequency of the service and providing more capacity during peak times so we can help even more people travel along the route."
