The beer company Innis & Gunn is planning to build what it says will be Edinburgh's first large-scale brewery for 150 years.

Bosses are hoping fans of their drinks will buy a stake in the business through a crowdfunding campaig aiming to raise £3m.

The location of the brewery has not yet been announced but it is expected to open in 2021 and create 30 jobs.

Innis & Gunn founder, Dougal Gunn Sharp said, "Part of our strength as a business comes from the community of fans we’ve built across the globe.

"This is the perfect chance for them to get involved and help us put Edinburgh back on the brewing map.

"We've enjoyed 16 years of uninterrupted growth, expanded into over 30 countries and we've got a very exciting journey ahead of us.
