On-loan Celtic striker faces excessive misconduct rap

Leigh Griffiths faces a disciplinary hearing on October 14th after the SFA today charged him over kicking a flare into the stand during Dundee's League Cup defeat against St Johnstone.

He's been hit with 3 charges : Bringing the game into disrepute, failing to act in the best interests of association football and excessive misconduct.

Griffiths, who had had already been charged by the police with culpable and reckless conduct, earlier issued an apology for any distress caused and said it was not his intention for the pyrotechnic to end up in the stand.
