Man due in court following Leith bus stop death

Detectives investigating the death of Nashir Ahmed have made an arrest

A 38-year-old man is due in court later in connection with the death of Nashir Ahmed, who was attacked at a bus stop in Leith earlier this month.

The 65-year old passed away in hospital on 10th March, five days after the incident on Ferry Road, close to the junction with Great Junction Street.

Another man, aged 48, suffered leg and facial injuries in the incident which happened at around 8.30pm.

Mr Nashir was a prominent member of Edinburgh's Bangladeshi community.

The arrested man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
