Preparations are being made to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.

Yesterday the Mercy Corps warned that: "humanitarian and displacement catastrophe in Ukraine and in the region is now a devastating likelihood which could threaten lives, infrastructure and livelihoods, drive food shortages, and cause significant mass displacement."

The charity, which has a base in Edinburgh, will now mobilise numbers to go to Poland.

From there they will look at how they can gain access to Ukraine to provide help to civilians.

But they'll also have to focus aid around bordering countries, with over 100,000 people already thought to have fled their homes to the likes of Romania and Moldova.
