The mother of an Edinburgh woman who's been missing for just over a week has issued a plea for her to get in touch.

Fiona McMaster, 41, was last seen outside Marks and Spencer in Morningside Road at around 4.40pm on Tuesday, 8th August.

Police think Fiona may be in the Glasgow area and could be using buses to travel back and forth across the Central Belt.

Officers have also released an image of Fiona at Edinburgh Bus Station, just before midnight on Friday, August 11, as they continue their search.

In a statement issued through Police Scotland, Fiona’s mother said: "Fiona has now been missing for a week and we are desperate to find her as quickly as possible.

"Fiona, if you see this message, please come home or contact us, we just want to know that you're okay and to let you know you can come home.

"I would also like to thank everyone who has assisted in the search to find Fiona.

"I would ask everyone to keep sharing Police Scotland's appeal and that if you are travelling across the Central Belt this week to look for Fiona and contact police if you see her."

Fiona is described as white woman with a heavier build. She is around 5ft 5” in height with chestnut/red brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a red fleece with a grey jumper, a pink t-shirt underneath and grey trainers.

She was also carrying a dark rucksack and a large shopping bag and can wear a blue bonnet or white hat at times.

Fiona is known to frequent, and has links to, the Gyle area and the west of Edinburgh.
