How much of a difference can one pint or a single glass of wine really make to our driving?

That’s the question we’ve been investigating as Scotland launches the toughest drink driving laws in the UK.

The new rules came into force at a minute past midnight meaning it’s now illegal to drive with more than 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in your system. The previous limit was 80mg.

The Scottish Parliament unanimously voted in favour of the new law on November 18.

Our reporter Vicky Murray met with experts from Glasgow's Caledonian University this week to see just how dangerous it is to drink and drive. Watch what happened when she put Scotland's new drink drive limit to the test:
