Great places to try with your pooch
If you're a dog walker and you live in Fife, then we have some great places to walk your dogs in the area. Anyone who is lucky enough to walk dogs in our neck of the woods, knows that we are spoilt for choice., but choosing a good walk for our pets isn’t always easy, with many factors to consider.
Here are a few of our favourite walks in Fife, which we think both you and your pup pal will enjoy. How many of these have you tried, and do you have any more suggestions for us to try?
Fife Coastal Path
You will probably already have walked part of the Fife Coastal Path at some point, but as it encompasses a staggering 117 miles, there may be some sections you and your dog would love, which you haven't encountered yet.
If you are looking for something flat or with an incline, there is a section perfect for you and your dog. The variety of terrain makes this a top choice for all walkers.
With several places to eat and drink along the way, it's a great route to explore.
Squirrel Trails
On the border of Fife, the Falkland Estate is home to the lovely Squirrel Trails. There are many different trails with slight hills and bridges to make it more interesting.
If you have the energy, walk up to the Mapsie Den waterfall, it's a lovely sight.
Lochore Meadows Country Park
Lochore Meadows Country Park is simply a jewel in the Fife crown. Situated around the Loch Ore, the park spans a captivating 1200 acres.
It is super popular because there really is something to interest everyone. It is one of those places where, each time you visit you realise you had forgotten how big it is and how much there is to enjoy.
There is both parkland and woodland for your pet to enjoy, and if your pup really needs to stretch those legs you can opt for a longer trek to the Harran Hill Woods. There are picnic tables for whenever you need a break. The loch itself is lovely for paddling, fishing and there are even water sports such as canoeing and kayaking.
Lomond Fisheries
Lomond Fisheries is another hit with both locals and visitors alike. The scenic walks around the reservoir area provide a lovely cocktail of grassland, woodland and hilly areas. So, whether your pooch prefers scampering up hills, or through trees, there will be a spot just right for you both. If it’s a huge stretch of open land your pet wants, then that’s covered too.
A convenient car park and a variety of walk types makes it practical for walkers too.
