Latest research reveals we'd rather share our toothbrush than our smartphone

How attached are you to your phone?

Mobile phones have transformed our way of life, but how many would rather share their toothbrush or bed than their smartphone with a friend?

Recent research conducted by O2 has revealed nearly double the amount of people questioned would rather share their toothbrush than their beloved phone.

In the most comprehensive research ever undertaken by O2 only 4.5% of the 18-24 year-olds questioned said they would be happy to let a close friend use their smartphone, compared to 9% saying they would be willing to share their toothbrush and 15% happy to share their bed.

The research has also revealed that a third of 18-24 year-olds questioned 'couldn't' live without their phone for a single day and when this survey was extended to all ages a similar result was found, with 19% saying they couldn't last a day without their phone.

Unsurprisingly a massive 80% of users have said that they will turn to their phone to keep them occupied when they're sitting on their own.

Sadly the research has also revealed that 9% of people questioned thought of their phone as their best friend and 12% described it as an 'extra limb'.

The O2 Mobile Life Report has been commissioned by O2 as part of the #newnormal campaign aiming to open a debate about the nation's relationships with their phones.
