Man arrested after cyclist dies in collision in Nuneaton

A man has died following a collision in Nuneaton this morning (Friday).

At around 6:30am, a cyclist – believed to be a man in his 70s – was involved in a collision with a lorry in College Street near the with Bull Ring.

Emergency services attended but the man was declared dead at the scene.

A 43-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs.

There are currently road closures in place around College Street

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage is being asked to call 101 quoting incident 46 of 18 June 2021.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:

“When ambulance crews arrived they discovered the cyclist, a man, who had suffered serious injuries in the incident.

“Unfortunately, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
