STABBING: A 37 year old man's died following an incident in Birmingham

West Midlands Police have arrested a 32 year old man on suspicion of murder.

Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally stabbed and four others were injured in Sparkhill last night (Friday 23 August).

Officers were called to reports of disorder involving men understood to be known to each other at an address in Wilton Road at just after 10.40pm.

A 37-year-old man was discovered in the street with serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem will take place in due course.

Another man, aged 35, was found in the property with serious stab wounds and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The three other men, two in their 30s and one in their 40s, suffered injuries which were not serious.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and will be questioned in due course.

A scene is currently in place in Wilton Road as enquiries continue to be carried out.

Detective Inspector Nick Barnes, from the force’s homicide team, said: "A man has tragically died and others have been injured as a result of this disorder.

"We understand all the men are known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death at this stage.
