The pipe burst on Park Lane West, just before 2pm yesterday (Monday 14th October).

At the time, South Staffordshire Water said around 20 properties had been damaged, and West Midlands Fire Service confirmed homes and businesses had to be evacuated.

Silvertree Academy was also evacuated but is open as usual today, while Tipton Green Junior School will be closed.

In a statement, South Staffordshire Water said:

"We are continuing to carry out repairs to the burst water main in conjunction with the other service providers through the night.

"We are working with the emergency services and have contacted anyone directly affected by the water damage.

"Some customers are without power as a safety precaution, visit Western Power for more information.

"If you live in the B66, B70, DY4, WV14 areas, you may experience discolouration. Although your water may not look very nice, it’s not harmful to health. Running the cold water tap in your kitchen for 20 minutes may help to clear it. Click here to watch our discoloured water advice video.
