Police were called to Aberdeen train station at the weekend over concerns of a man with a firearm - which turned out to be a false alarm.

British Transport Police received the report just before 9am on Saturday 6 April but it turned out to be a man dressed as a Star Wars character with a toy gun.

Train diverted

Grampian Stormtrooper took to social media to say it might be time to hang up his blaster after he said he was stopped on a train to Dundee over concerns about his toy firearm.

He boarded the train on his way to DeeCon dressed in his Stormtrooper suit when the train came to a halt not long out of the station.

In the social media post, he said a guard spoke to him about his toy gun before the train made its way back into Aberdeen station where he was met by police, including two firearm officers.

The post said: "Apparently someone reported it to police, train went back to Aberdeen.

"Met by 2 firearms officers, 3 PS, 2 BTP had to chat to them all on train then in office."

He was then asked not to wear his Stormtrooper armour on the train again.

False alarm

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers received reports of a man with a firearm entering Aberdeen station just before 9am on Saturday (April 6).

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from Police Scotland and it was determined it was a false alarm.”
