The wooden carving went missing from his usual spot on the Corrie coast during storm Isha last month.

Couple Robert and Vicki Agnew, who have a holiday home on Bute, found Clyde washed up on Lubas Bay over the weekend.

Owner of the Corrie Hotel on Arran, Rodger Meadows posted on Facebook,

“He’s coming home!”

“Spotted on Lubas Bay Beach, Bute at the weekend. We’ve kept quiet until now!”

“Heading back now and hope the ferries get us back!”

Locals and visitors had been frantically searching for Clyde, who was considered “part of the community” on Arran according to Meadows.

The sculpture, carved by Arran’s own Marvin Elliot, has previously washed up as far away as Troon and Turnberry.

It had been secured by metal rods to ensure Clyde didn’t swim away again.

Rodger Meadows told the BBC that despite his battered fin and missing tail, locals would be “over the moon” to have Clyde back.

Meadows later posted on Facebook, “CalMac Ferries please let us into standby in Ardrossan and get us home.”

“Hoping to get there for the 18:00”.
