£150,000 worth of cannabis seized in Ayrshire

A cache of cannabis with a street value of around £150,000 has been found at a house in Ayrshire

£150,000 worth of cannabis has been seized after police raided a house on Skye Road, Prestwick.

Police entered the property at around 12.30pm on Wednesday 14 February 2024.

A 19-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with drug offences.

He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff court on Thursday, 15 Feburary, 2024.

In a statement shared by the force, Police Scotland said they are “committed to removing illegal substances from our communities and will take all measures to disrupt those involved.”

It follows the separate arrest of two men in January after a cannabis farm worth £650,000 was discovered in Ayr town centre.

Cannabis is considered a Class B drug in Scotland.

The maximum penalty for the supply and production of Class B drugs is up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both.
