Two 17-year-olds have been arrested and charged in connection with a fire at the disused Station Hotel in Ayr which led to disruption for rail passengers across Ayrshire on Sunday.

The station was evacuated when the fire started at around 3.30pm with seven appliances from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attending.

Overhead train lines were switched off, impacting services from Ayr to Glasgow and the line to Largs and Ardrossan.

The youths will appear at Ayr Sheriff Court at a later date.
