150 people spoken to in Paisley in search for missing Irvine man

Officers investigating the disappearance of a man from Irvine have spoken to around 150 people in the area where he was last seen.

Evan Reid was coming home on a train from a night out in Glasgow on March 25th when he got off at Paisley Gilmour Street unexpectedly around 9.40pm.

The last confirmed sighting of the 31-year-old was on Inchinnan Road at 10.06pm.

More than a week on from going missing, police stopped and spoke to drivers and pedestrians in Paisley.

Searches around the River Cart have also taken place.

Evan is described as being around 5ft 8in and of slim build. When last seen he was wearing a khaki green jumper, a black body warmer, dark blue jeans and grey trainers.

Chief Inspector William Graham, Renfrewshire Area Commander, said: “On Saturday evening exactly one week on from the last known place we believe Evan was, we carried out a road check, speaking to drivers and appealing for any further information.

"During this check we spoke with almost 150 people and I would like to thank the public for their continued support with this enquiry.

“Whilst we assess all information from the public, I would continue to appeal to anyone who may have seen Evan since 10pm on Saturday, 25 March, and we have not already spoken with you, please get in touch.

“Specialist and local officers continue to carry out land and water searches close to Inchinnan Road, near the River Cart, and our enquiries are ongoing.”
