Woman dies after falling from Irvine flat

A heavy police presence cordoned off the area

A woman has died after falling from a flat window in Ayrshire.

Air ambulance and emergency crews were called to a block of flats in Warrix Avenue, Irvine, on Thursday afternoon.

Around 12:55pm, a 45-year-old woman was found seriously injured after reports that she had fallen from a third-story window.

She was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where she later died.

Police cordoned the area off and are continuing enquires to establish the circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended and a 45-year-old woman was taken by air ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she later died.

"Her next of kin are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1500 of Thursday, 1 February, 2024.”
