Two pedestrians injured in Kilmarnock hit and run

A car stolen in Edinburgh a month ago was discovered abandoned after the incident.

Police in Kilmarnock are on the hunt for a suspect after two pedestrians were knocked down and injured by a stolen car in.

It happened around on the evening of Sunday 17 December at around 9:50pm on Lainshaw Avenue.

The man and woman who were hit by the car were injured in the incident and taken to Crosshouse Hospital. They were assessed and later released.

The vehicle, a grey Toyota Hilux, left the scene of the incident and was later recovered abandoned on Bridgehousehill Road. It was established that the car had been stolen from the Bartongate Terrace area of Edinburgh last month.

Police are now looking for the driver of the vehicle and any potential witnesses who were in or nearby the Lainshaw Avenue or Bridgehousehill Road areas on Sunday night.

Detective Sergeant Barry Gibson said: “Enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, or you were in the Lainshaw Avenue area on Sunday night and witnessed anything suspicious, please call police.”
