Police investigating Saltcoats man's murder lock down street and storm house
Armed officers were seen on Canal Street in the town on Wednesday, as part of the investigation into the murder of Alan Lawson
A street in Saltcoats was sealed off on Wednesday afternoon, as armed police investigating the murder of Alan Lawson in Largs swarmed a house.
The 36-year-old was found seriously hurt at his home on New England Road on the 4th of February, having been brutally assaulted in Largs days previously.
He died in hospital two days later.
Police confirmed last week that a murder investigation had been launched, and said that they were following a positive line of enquiry, but more than a week on there remains no arrests in connection with the incident.

On Wednesday afternoon police locked down part of Canal Street in Saltcoats, between the junction with Seabank Street and Canal Place, and armed officers were seen storming a property on the street.
One eyewitness told Greatest Hits Radio News: “We saw the four police vans come round, and all the guns and the riot shields started coming out.
“They were around for about an hour and a half, trying to bash the door in and whatnot, but other than that not a lot was happening.”
A neighbour at the property targeted by police told us he hadn’t been aware of anyone living there for some time: “I haven’t seen them for four months.
“When my neighbours were staying there they were always noisy, and I always had a problem with them.”
Earlier on Wednesday a police presence also remained on Alexander Avenue in Largs, at the property where it is believed Mr Lawson was tortured and brutally assaulted in the days before his death.
A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "The operation in Canal Street has concluded and enquiries remain ongoing."
