Man dies after being pulled from water at Saltcoats Harbour

A 66-year-old was pulled from the water in Saltcoats last night and was taken to hospital, but died shortly after.

A man has died after being pulled from the water off the coast of North Ayrshire.

Multiple emergency service vehicles could be seen last night near Saltcoats Harbour.

They were called out to the area at around 8:35pm on Wednesday 3 May after receiving reports from people who were concerned about the sight of a man in the water.

Upon arrival, a 66-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

However, he died shortly after.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 8.35pm on Wednesday, 3 May, 2023, police received a report of concern for a man within the water, off Saltcoats Harbour.

A 66-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he subsequently died. Next of kin are aware and there are no suspicious circumstances.”
