Titanic exhibition extended until end of May
The display was set to close last weekend but will stay open until May 31

The Titanic Honour and Glory exhibition is set to stay in Saltcoats for an extended run until the end of May.
The collection of artifacts from the 1912 tragedy was originally due to set sail from Ayrshire last weekend, but after some sell out days over the Easter holidays, local residents will have until May 31 to catch it.
The exhibition is curated by Sean Szmalc who has spent the last thirty years dedicating his life to studying the RMS Titanic, which sank 111 years ago after colliding with an iceberg on the way to New York from Southampton.
North Ayrshire Council is urging people to go along to see some of the pieces, which includes a letter written on board the ship, a nightgown worn by a survivor, and even some memorabilia from the 1997 film, including the costumes worn by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Council leader Marie Burns said: “with free exhibition entry, everyone is welcome to explore the legacy of this important period in history and discover some of the amazing artefacts on display from the unforgettable story of the tragic liner.
“From heroes and moments captured in time, to the tragic sacrifices made and the incredible tales of survival, we are incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to display this unique collection.
“Once again, I would encourage anyone who hasn’t yet had the chance to go along, to take the time to experience this must-see exhibition.”
Also on display are White Star Liner dinner plates, the kind that would have been used by first class passengers, personal belongings of those on board, and the infamous ‘Heart of the Ocean’ necklace from James Cameron’s iconic film.
The exhibition is open Monday-Wednesday and Saturdays, 9.30am – 1pm, and 2pm-4.30pm.
