Aylesbury Vale residents are being encouraged to look at burglary prevention methods as the weather warms.

Opening windows and doors is encouraged to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, but with temperatures warming more people will be doing this for their own comfort.

However, Thames Valle Police's Superintendent for Aylesbury Vale says this can be an invitation for burglars.

Mike Loebenberg says they've seen incidents recently:

"We get particular types of burglary at this time where members of the public might have left a window or door open for air flow.

"We understand this but if the property is unoccupied or people have retied to bed it is extremely important these things are secured.

"Obviously if people are seen loitering and paying attention to properties please do report this.

"We will of course do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice but it would be great for the public to do what they can to prevent these offences and protect themselves."
