A booklet with puzzles and games is being provided to over 60s in Aylesbury.

Home Instead Aylesbury Vale and North East Oxfords has created the puzzle booklet for people over the age of 60 in the areas they look after.

They have provided booklets to their clients but also local contacts, by local sheltered housing associations, retirement homes and the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust.

It contains a variety of puzzles, including word searches, riddles, sudokus and a general knowledge quiz.

Taylor is a Caregiver with Home Instead:

"We've had positive feedback from clients who are feeling restricted, so it provides them with something to do and keeps them mentally active.

"Its a way of us showing our support to clients and the wider community.

"It provides some light hearted entertainment for people and we Taylor and Lesley the client really enjoyed doing it.

"It provides people who are isolated or living on their own something to do as well.

"Home instead provides a range of services and we have seen a rise in companionship care. This booklet can be taken by the carer to sit with the client and sit doing it.

"It's really enjoyable and you build a bond and that builds a relationship with the client."

Lee Harrington, owner of Aylesbury Vale and North East Oxfordshire, commented:

“Although our caregivers have been there to provide companionship to our clients throughout lockdown, they noticed that many were missing their normal routines; attending clubs and seeing their family and friends, and many were becoming fed-up of the limited activities they could do within their own home.

“We hope the activity booklets provide some light-hearted entertainment to those who may feel isolated, as well as bringing a smile to their faces.”

More information on the booklets, including how to request one be sent out can be found the the Home Instead webpage here.
