Motorbike owners in Aylesbury are being warned to secure their bikes safely after a series of thefts.

Aylesbury Vale's Superintendent Mike Loebenberg has said there have been 8 thefts of motorbikes in the last 6 weeks across the area. Particularly 125cc motorbikes.

Most bike owners secure their bike with a lock that means offenders are unable to drive it away.

In these instances offenders are picking up the bikes and carrying them to nearby vehicles before driving away, its assumed they can then spend time taking the locks off.

Superintendent Mike Loebenberg is warning owners the check their bike isnt at risk:

"Its really important that people who own them are thinking about how they secure them.

"While people may have locks, and its really important people use locks, it's best to secure the lock to something fixed to the ground. That way the bike cannot be lifted.

"Also think about where you are securing your bike, so somewhere with CCTV and streetlighting is best.

"If anyone has any information or see's anything suspicious please get in touch with Thames Valley Police via our website or through crimestoppers which is completely anonymous."
