Buckingham seeing £4.5m investment from developers

From transport to education, Barratt & David Wilson Homes have to pay out as part of their planning permission.

A house builder is investing £4 .5 million into transport, leisure facilities and open spaces in Buckingham.

As part of getting planning permission, Barratt and David Wilson Homes also have to pay for a new landscaped open space around St Rumbold's Well.

The funding, which totals £4,784,425 forms part of the planning agreement for the new development located on Tingewick Road and will be used to support services and improve facilities for both new and existing residents in and around the town.

Among the investment is more than £1.8 million for education, £1.5 million towards transport and £1 million will go towards sport and leisure.

Simon Francis, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Thames said: "Investing into local communities is an extremely important part of building a new housing development. We pride ourselves on our commitment to the local community and strive to support it wherever we can.

"As our development progresses we will not only be contributing to the area financially, but the construction process will underpin over 760 jobs for the local area."

Specific contributions include:

Education - £1,836,740

Transport - £1,054,000

Bus service, shelter and promotion - £545,300

Sports and Leisure - £1,086,725

Open Space - £261,660
