Work of Buckinghamshire's Community Boards celebrated
They have helped give more people a voice on issues since being set-up last year
The first year of work of Buckinghamshire's community boards is being celebrated.
They were set up by Bucks Council, to raise local issues and get much-needed cash out to groups.
For example, Buckingham's has given out £39k.
On Tuesday night (29 June) members of the Buckingham & Villages Community Board met for their latest quarterly formal meeting.
Members took the opportunity to review the progress the board has made in the past year, looking at the positive impacts made.
Chairman Warren Whyte said:
"We are really pleased at the way Buckingham & Villages Community Board has embedded itself fully into the local community, helping to bring people together to make improvements in our local area.
"It is really important as a board that we bring together people and organisations from every background, making sure that we are listening to everyone and responding to local need."
In the past year Buckingham & Villages Community Board has supported a wide range of local projects to support community initiatives and projects in line with the board's key priorities.
The board allocated over £39k to 17 local projects.
For the coming financial year the board will be using it's £434k share of the £6.6m allocated to community boards for 2021/22 to support further projects.
Priorities for the coming year continue to be supporting economic recovery and also the environment, youth and highways.
Warren Whyte continued:
"It's fantastic that we have been able to support such a wide range of local projects in the past year.
"We welcome funding bids from any local organisation or group towards initiatives that support our key priorities so get in touch to find out more."
