Bucks Healthcare win awards for research work

Staff and patients that support research work in the Thames Valley and South Midlands area were recognised.

Staff and a patient at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust won awards last week.

Last week Bucks NHS Trust won 3 awards at this years National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network Thames Valley and South Midlands (LCRN).

Due to coronavirus restrictions there a small number of guests were present at Milton Keynes Hospitals, with a virtual ceremony for other trusts.

The event aims to recognise and honour staff that help deliver research studies in the NHS, public health and social care.

Bucks Trust had been nomiated for 4 catergories and won 3, receiving a highly commended for the other:

Dr Raha West – Winner Outstanding Principal Investigator

Katarina Manso - Winner Research Nurse of the Year

Nicola Bowers – Highly Commended Outstanding Research Team Leader

Christa Dyson – Winner Outstanding Research Champion (patient)

Dr Nana Theodorou, Head of Research and Innovation at the Trust said:

“I’m so proud that work of colleagues in the Trust to support research projects has been recognised at these awards.

"We are passionate about supporting regional and national research projects that push innovations in healthcare which ultimately improve patient care.”
