Chesham's leisure centre has re-opened today after a multi-million pound refurbishment.

Members at both Chesham and Chalfont Leisure Centre (opening on Saturday) will benefit from a whole host of improvements at their centres including bigger and better gyms, kitted out with industry leading, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, brand new group cycling studios with curved wall-to-wall immersive screens and new, larger dedicated group exercise studios. Both leisure centres have also undergone a range of aesthetic enhancements to offer an all-round improved fitness experience.

Everyone Active is launching its first PRAMA studio at Chesham Leisure Centre which offers a unique experience where the room itself becomes part of the training, with interactive floors and walls, motivational music, LED lights and multimedia projections to suit a range of ages and abilities.

Commenting on the new and improved facilities, Steve Salwa, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, said:

"We're thrilled to reopen the doors to our leisure centres in Chesham and Chalfont. It's been a challenging year so we're delighted to be completing the finishing touches and getting our teams trained and ready to get everyone active.

"We wanted to offer our local communities an industry-leading fitness experience, with captivating training studios, high-tech equipment and upgraded studios so we are really proud of the finished results and can't wait to welcome everyone back.

"We would like to reassure everyone that we will be operating strict safety measures throughout our centres and encourage everyone to read through the guidance on our website in advance of their visit so we can all do our part to keep each other safe."

Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet Member for Sports and Leisure, Clive Harriss said:

"The refurbishments are part of the council's commitment to invest in its leisure facilities to support healthy lifestyles and improve residents' health and well-being.

"We want to make sure that our facilities meet our residents' needs and encourage more people to live a healthier lifestyle. The refurbishments mean our users will have access to the very best market leading equipment which offer new experiences in training. Both centres are looking superb and I encourage anyone thinking about getting into, or getting back into fitness to come down and take a look.

"Regrettably, the swimming pool at Chalfont Leisure Centre will not be able to reopen at this time, due to issues with the pool structure. We apologise for this inconvenience and we will of course keep you updated on this."

Everyone Active has committed to keeping its customers safe and active, ensuring it will meet and exceed Government guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19 with the Everyone Active Pledge. Full detail on the operator's pledge and safety measures can be found here.

The Government confirmed in late November that leisure centres across all tiers will be safe to reopen with strict operational measures in place.

However, local restrictions mean some activities are not available at some centres. Full information on how the tier system affects your local centre is available here.
