The Wymcombe Homeless Connection's Big Sleepout 2021: At Home and Big Quiz makes a return tonight.

As part of its winter appeal, the charity is aiming to raise £100,000 to help provide support to homeless people during the most dangerous months of the year.

However, they also want to create awareness and let people know about the services on offer

People can take part in the event by sleeping in their garden, in an (empty) bathtub, in a churchyard, on a school playground or somewhere else they wouldn’t normally sleep.

The event comes as the Government's Covid-19 funding that paid for emergency accommodation for rough sleepers has come to an end locally.

Speaking to Greatest Hits, Fundraising and Marketing Manager for the charity, Heather Stanley said:

"We always hear people say that you are only ever two pay packets away from homelessness and that is true.

"We know the cost of living is really high, furlough left people with a much lower income and finding jobs despite all the vacancies can still be difficult."

The Big Quiz will be online on the night for those who are taking part in the Sleepout and for those who aren’t.

It will be streamed live online at 7.30pm today (19 November).
