An 88 year old man has been arrested, after an 11 year old boy was sexual assaulted on a bus in Watford last month.

It happened on the 320 bus – travelling from Watford Junction railway station to the Dome roundabout – sometime between 3.30pm and 3.50pm on Monday 7 March.

An 11 year old boy was reportedly touched inappropriately by another passenger on the bus, and it’s believed several other passengers witnessed what happened and intervened.

An 88 year old man from Abbots Langley has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

PC Rory Farmer, from the Watford Local Crime Unit, said: “We are very keen to trace the people who we believe went to the victim’s aid.

“We have been carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident since it was reported to us, as well as supporting the victim and liaising with the bus company and have made an arrest in connection with our inquiry.

“We have now reached a point in our investigation where we’re reaching out to the public for help in tracing those who intervened, as we believe they will have vital information for us.

“Could it have been you, or perhaps a friend? Do you remember travelling on the 320 bus during the specified times that day? If you have any information that you think could help us with our investigation – however small – please contact us as soon as possible.”
