The proposed ban of vehicle turns on a road earmarked “for safety improvements” has been met with ‘fury’ by a local.
Bucks Council has been slammed over its intention to introduce a “permanent” ban of right turns out of the A413 slip road leading to Gerrards Cross Golf Club.
Janing Shenoy, of South Park branded it ‘consultation by stealth’, claiming people “haven’t been officially informed about it”.
A consultation on the scheme opened on October 4 and closes on October 26.
Ms Shenoy previously helped rally residents to oppose a temporary travel scheme, or “Quietway” between Chalfont St Peter and Gerrards Cross she and others claimed they were not consulted on, which Bucks Council did not deny.
She said this new scheme ‘will create more problems than it will solve’.
In addition to the slip road change, Bucks Council will also prohibit right and U-turns “in the central reservation for all vehicular traffic at this right turn cross-over facility”.
This will be enforced with a Traffic Regulation Order and by “closing the central reserve”.
It said the move was due to “a review of injury collisions across the county” and is “intended to reduce collisions and near misses at this location” by barring such “dangerous manoeuvres”.
“Like the Quietway, it will create more problems than solve,” said Ms Shenoy.
“I’m furious that yet again, this ‘consultation’ is taking place, but we haven’t been officially informed about it.”
Steven Broadbent, Cabinet Member for Transport said:
"This consultation has been advertised in the usual way, in line with statutory obligations and time limits, and is still open for comment until 26 October 2021.
"Any residents wishing to comment on the proposals are welcome to do so, and once all responses have been reviewed a final decision will be made."
