Excusive data seen by Greatest Hits Radio has revealed the number of knife related injuries in Milton Keynes has almost doubled since 2014.

Over 120 knife related injuries in Milton Keynes this year

There were just over 60 knife related injuries in the city back in 2014 but that number reached over 120 this year.

The numbers were revealed following a Freedom of Information request submitted to Thames Valley Police.

As well as a rise in the number of injuries, there was also a small increase in the number of deaths.

Three knife related deaths in 2022

Whilst the number of people that died from a knife related incident in 2022 was three, that figure was zero eight years ago.

Knife angel set to arrive in Milton Keynes

This comes as Milton Keynes prepares to welcome the British Ironworks' knife angel throughout December.

The angel is part of a month of action against violence that's being run by the PCC, Thames Valley Police, the council, MK Dons SET, and the Safety Centre.

The month hopes to bring together schools and parents, voluntary sector organisations, places of worship, community groups, local venues, and businesses to stand against violence in all forms.

This includes knife crime, as well as domestic abuse, hate crime, bullying, and other forms of violence and aggression.

The 27ft sculpture, made out of around 100,000 blades collected in amnesty bins, will be available to visit from Saturday.
