Hertfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal road traffic collision in St Albans.

At around 3.45pm on Saturday the 11th of September, a lorry and a man on a mobility scooter collided on Hatfield Road opposite the entrance to Alban Park.

Officers arrived at scene, along with fire and ambulance services, and put in place road closures.

The lorry driver remained at the scene and assisted officers with their enquiries. No arrests were made.

The man, aged in his 80s, was taken to hospital for treatment, but has since sadly died.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw, or has dash-cam footage of the collision so they can establish the full circumstances of what happened.

Additionally, they also believe the man on the mobility scooter had travelled from the centre of St Albans to near Alban Park and officers would like to hear from anyone who remembers seeing him on the route that day.

If you witnessed the incident or have information, contact police on 101.
