Two brothers will be completing the third of three marathons in Aylesbury today.

Alex Clarke-Dowson and Ollie Marshall have taken on the gruelling task in honour of their dad and Alex's best friend.

Andrew Marshall and Richard Doxey, both NHS doctors, were diagnosed with lymphoma, the fifth most common cancer, just weeks apart earlier this year. So the brothers decided to take on the three marathon challenge to raise money for Buckinghamshire-based charity Lymphoma Action.

"Rich has actually got the all clear"

Ollie said, "It's been difficult but I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end."

Alex added, "We wanted to take on a challenge that challenged us both physically and mentally.

"And fortunately, my best friend Rich has actually just got the all clear which is fantastic and our dad is in the final stages, he's on his sixth round of chemo. They've both been really great."

The route taken by the brothers has been a trip down memory lane, with them stopping off at significant places along the way.

The marathon started in Yorkshire on Friday, where both Andrew and Richard were born and raised. Then day two took place in Alex and Ollie's home county of Derbyshire, beginning in Church Broughton and ending at the Royal Derby Hospital.

Finally, the last marathon will take place in Buckinghamshire, ending in Aylesbury - the home of Lymphoma Action.

Raised over £5,000

And whilst they've already smashed their original fundraising target of £5,000, they're hoping to keep the donations coming in over the next few days via their JustGiving page.

Locals are also being invited to come along and cheer both men across the finish line at the Bell Hotel in the corner of Market Square in the centre of Aylesbury, where a celebratory event will be held. This will include an outside bar, kids entertainment, and BBQ from 12pm.
