White Ribbon day on November 25 marked the start of the 16 Days of Activism, the annual international action against violence perpetrated to girls and women.

Greatest Hits Radio caught up with a charity working tirelessly to support victims of sexual abuse and assault in Buckinghamshire, who said the annual days of action are essential to shed a light on the violence experienced by women.

The CEO of the Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Service Buckinghamshire & Milton Keynes, Beki Osbourne, said: "We don't just have 16 days of activism, we do 365 days of activism every year, but it's a really great opportunity for us, as a community, to all stand together against violence and take action to create a world where women and girls don't have to fear men's violence."

"We're especially keen to hear from government officials, police, business owners and employers, and other community leaders to really step up and play their part in ending violence against women and girls."

"...part of what we did was support her emotionally, but also help to advocate for her to be moved to a more appropriate accommodation."

The SAASSBMK is a women-led charity supporting women who have been experienced rape, sexual assault and abuse.

They provide support, information, advice and guidance to victims and survivors, to empower and enable them to work with the trauma and suffering caused to them and their loved ones.

Ms Osbourne spoke of the fear women experience in the event they may be faced with a perpetrator of violence and abuse, and told Greatest Hits Radio about one woman they helped, who was housed on the same road as her perpetrator.

She said: "Obviously that's going to be a huge barrier for her to feel safe but be able to move forward with her life, so part of what we did was support her emotionally, but also help to advocate for her to be moved to a more appropriate accommodation."
