A man from Andover has died in hospital 12 days after he was attacked in River Wey.

62 year old John William Carroll was assaulted outside the Tesco Extra store at around 9.18pm on 29 July.

He was taken to hospital with a serious head injury but sadly passed away on today (10 August).

Releasing his image, his family said: “John was a well-loved man to all those who knew him. We, as a family, would like or privacy to be respected during this extremely difficult time.”

Hampshire Police say they are treating this as a homicide investigation and are urging anyone with information, or dash-cam footage to come forward.
