Basingstoke 'dangerous driving' incident

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a dangerous driving incident in Basingstoke.

At 5pm yesterday (10 April), officers were involved in a pursuit with a man driving a grey Volkswagen Golf after he failed to stop on Aldermaston Road.

Officers then followed the vehicle onto Ringway North, then Ringway West – towards the Winchester Road roundabout and then Ringway South – towards the Hackwood Road roundabout.

The vehicle then turned onto Hackwood Road before stopping on Applegarth Close.

A foot pursuit ensued and officers detained a man a short time later. Officers conducted a search at the scene and seized a bag of suspected Class A drugs, two phones and cash.

A 53-year-old man from Basingstoke was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A.

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously and failing to stop a vehicle when required. He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
