Buskers and street performers are being invited to entertain weekend shoppers in Basingstoke town centre this summer.

The council say they’re looking for talented performers over the age of 14 to show off their talent at official ‘busk-stops’ in three designated sites at weekends.

Social distancing measures will be in place to keep street performers and shoppers safe and for those unable to soak in the performances live, they will be shared on the Basingstoke Festival social media channels.

Cabinet Member for Communities, Planning and Infrastructure Cllr Simon Bound said:

“It’s great to see shoppers returning to the town centre following the latest unlocking of COVID restrictions and we have been working hard to organise a host of outdoor activities for everyone to enjoy.

“We are lucky to have a number of talented performers and are keen to give them an opportunity to showcase their work and perform live to crowds in the town centre to give residents and visitors a much-needed boost. "
